Offline Player Beta
2.27.2006 - Mike Rustici
Like any technology company, we are constantly trying to stay ahead of the curve and develop innovative new products to meet our customers needs. Most recently, we just completed a beta version of an Offline Player extension to our SCORM Engine. The Offline Player will allow learners to download their content and take it on any system even while disconnected from the network. The Offline Player works seamlessly with the SCORM Engine and handles the synchronization of content and detailed tracking data when a network connection is available. If this product sounds like something you could use, or if you want to test out the beta version, please let us know. We are currently assembling requirements for the final version and any feedback is much appreciated.
Coming Soon...
The SCORM Test Track will be the ultimate tool for testing and developing SCORM content without the overhead of an LMS. Advanced diagnostic information, monitoring of sequencing rule interpretation and one-click re-import, all from a dashboard control center, will provide the best environment for quickly creating SCORM 2004 content with advanced sequencing rules. More information coming soon.

Looking for our next great developer
2.13.2006 - Mike Rustici Help Wanted
Rustici Software is looking for its next great developer. We are the leading provider of products and services that assist with SCORM conformance, so a candidate familiar with SCORM is preferred (but not required). A description of the job is included below. If you, or someone you know, is interested, please email your resume to jobs@scorm.com.
Rustici Software is a place where excellent people are truly valued. Those people who meet our high expectations will be given tremendous freedom, responsibility, and respect. Both owners are practicing developers who recognize and value excellence.
Rustici Software is a VERY small company specializing in online training and the standards that govern it. We provide products and services that help our clients conform to SCORM, AICC and similar e-learning standards. We are very much in a specialized niche, but it is one that is growing by leaps and bounds.
Our work requires us to work with different platforms and technologies on a daily basis. We do not expect you to know all of these technologies right away, but we do expect you to learn them quickly. We expect that you will have experience in at least some of these technologies.
JavaScript (required), .NET (C# or VB), Java, Visual Basic, Flash (ActionScript), PHP, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL
Your work will vary greatly and be largely what you want it to be. Depending on your skills, you will be able to do pure product development, client-led product customization, or direct client training and consulting. Some days, you may find yourself painting the walls in the office. (Note: This is unlikely, but we want someone who won't be bothered by something like this. We're really trying to hire someone who will do whatever is required to make the company a success. The only day you're likely to do any painting is the day you choose the color of the walls in your office.)
We're looking for a talented developer. We aren't hung up on a certain amount of experience nor a certain pay scale. If you're truly talented but not too high on yourself, come work for us. Please make an effort to show us these two traits in your application. You must be willing to relocate to the Nashville, TN, area.

On the Road Again
2.10.2006 - Mike Rustici
This year we made a new commitment to get on the road and participate in some of the more significant industry events. I recently returned from Taipei where I presented at ADL's Second International Plugfest and also from Denver where we exhibited at ASTD's TechKnowledge 2006 event. In the next few months you can track us down at:
-Elliot Massie's LMS 2006, April 6-7 in Vegas
-HealthStream's Annual Summit, April 18-21 in Nashville. I'll be presenting a high level workshop on SCORM entitled "SCORM: What is it? Why do I need it? What can I do with it?". This workshop will focus on some of the more advanced aspects of HealthStream's usage of the SCORM Engine as well as the new capabilities that SCORM 2004 enables.
-MedBiquitous Annual Conference, April 25-26 in Baltimore. MedBiquitous invited me to participate in a panel discussion with Phil Dodds and Dan Rehak about "Transforming Education and Systems with SCORM". My topic of focus will be "Updating Legacy Systems to be SCORM Conformant".
-ASTD International Conference and Exposition, May 7-10 in Dallas. Stop by and visit us in the exhibition hall. We won't have any cheesy freebies for you, nor will be raffling off an iPod. There will be a friendly face and answers to all your SCORM questions.
